He fought for so long,
And he fought so fucking hard
To be the best grandpa in the world,
And he was better than the best.
He was a shining comet of a grandpa,
Lighting up our lives like only a grandpa can.
And at 5:28 on June 12, 2011, Clifford Hodgkins swung right back out of our solar system.
Now he's somewhere out there, riding his T-Model Ford and planting trees.
So thank you.
Thank you for the trains and the trucks,
Thank you for the Goodyear blimps and the leather gloves,
For the Steam 'n Power Show,
For the nights at IHOP's and Hackney's,
For the fishing trips,
For the woodpile,
For the tomato worms,
For the garbage instructions,
And the christmases and easters and birthdays together.
Thank you for the memories.
You were the best grandpa anyone could have ever had.
I love you, Pop-pop.
